Dear Members of the Sussex-Wantage FOL,

Well it finally happened...the first frost came last night. Everything changes now as most of us will be spending more cozy time indoors for the next several months. Hopefully you will find lots more time to explore some new books from the library!

Our library is looking great, as usual, with a “turkey” as a bookshelf taking center stage when you walk in the door. Don’t forget to check out the newest display in the FOL case, to the right as you walk in. We are highlighting the longest running businesses in the Borough of Sussex, and there are wonderful old photos of some as they used to be. We are grateful for the continuity and stability that these small businesses have provided to our community and happy to acknowledge them with this display.

The Native Plant Society of New Jersey will be outfitting the display case for the month of December with examples of seed cases and pods which can be found on natives, as well as information on why they are excited about native plants in the first place. Be sure to allow some time to enjoy it on your December visits to the library.

Due to the library being used as a polling place there will be no book sale in November. We will resume taking donations on the 13th of November and look forward to seeing you all on December 9th for our end of the year Second Saturday Sale.

Mark your calendars now for our Holiday Cheer music program featuring Mezzo-soprano Diane Schaming and pianist Tom Mustachio. This inspiring event will be held on Sunday, December 3rd at 2 pm in the Community Room. Refreshments will follow. Admission is on a first come, first seated basis and, as usual, there is no charge. As we look back over the year of 2023 we want to thank all of our members for their continued support, both financially and through attending our sales and programs. The program attendance award goes to our “Music @ the AMP” series - many thanks to all who turned out and brought their friends and neighbors with them! We had a spectacular line-up of musicians performing this summer, and are already planning for next season. Anyone who has suggestions to make for this program or regarding the initiation of any new program will have our ears. We exist to serve our library and our community and hope to increase our two-way communication with you all.

Program Committee Meetings are held on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 11:30 am. All are welcome. If you have come at 10 am for Chair Yoga with Julie consider staying for the meeting...we would like to know your thoughts on new directions to take with programing. If you can’t make a meeting you are welcome to email us at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Once again, be sure to check out our website: friendsofswlibrary.org for the most up to the minute take on what is happening with the Friends.

Sending our very best wishes for a warm and wonderful holiday season,

The Friends of the Sussex-Wantage Library
